My first foray into set design for theatre was an invitation from a classmate, Terence Low, who suggested we work on the various 10-minute plays that Action! Theatre had selected, as a precursor to its own competition to search for good local scripts. It was a great learning experience to design sets for “Joe’s Encyclopedia”, “Helen At Risk” and “Broken Hearts”. I met many of my friends like Lim Jen Erh and Benjamin Ng during this period.
