This was my only opportunity to work with the space that is the Guinness Theatre at The Substation. NUS Theatre had decided to stage British playwright Peter Shaffer’s 1962 doublebill there, and Tan Boon Hui invited me to design, this time as director. It was an exercise in spatializing the encounters and relationships of the cast, and to design the various props that included a painting of The Birth of Venus by Boticelli.
