My second collaboration with Toy Factory was really enjoyable, for the fact that I could work directly with the playwright and director, Goh Boon Teck, but also the opportunity to work with Ian Woo, an artist whose work I am still fascinated by. I think the play is a development of various ideas and threads in Boon Teck’s award-winning “Titoudao”, and due to Jubilee Hall’s spatial configuration, I eventually organized a series of panels that flitted in and out according to the script, but which also created different spaces and moods by their precise placement complemented by light and sound. The final scene reveals the entire “vacuous” stage but for a panel with circular flourescent lights.
